Van Cliburn attended the Julliard Conservatory. Emil Gilels attended the Odessa Conservatory. Fritz Kreisler studied at the Vienna Conservatory. Leonard Bernstein, after first majoring in music at Harvard, attended the Curtis Institute of Music.

All of these acknowledged geniuses of music, blessed with enormous talent, nevertheless gained by refining their talent in a music education process. But I’ve never heard anyone suggest Mozart would have done better if he had gone to music school first. Mozart was simply DIFFERENT…one of a kind.

I think maybe you’re trying to apply principles/standards/assessments to an entity that doesn’t match any model we’ve ever come up with for any company…truly one of a kind.

Yes, and, alas, WEB will not be around forever, but Berkshire will and we’ll need to figure out what to do with it.
