    Wow. This is petty. And you forgot to include your main argument for not using “et al.” — the lack of self-gratification in seeing your name in print.

    Petty? I suppose. But it is a stupid, stupid rule. The point of citations to attribute the work accurately and completely, and to enable researches to track down the source. In no other discipline does citation format work like this.
