“Clinical experience suggests that manic patients often lack insight and fail to recognize their symptoms. Their poor recognition of the behavioral manifestations of their illness and the need for treatment are commonly associated with noncompliance and poor outcome. This lack of insight may be one of the most insidious symptoms of mania.”
