As a student of international economic law, I’m glad to report Paul Krugman’s receipt of this year’s Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences…
For all his good political analysis in recent years, those who know his economic analysis in the realm of international trade mostly still consider it his best work!

Actually, most of those who know Krugman’s economic analysis wish he didn’t put his name next to his political “analysis”…

I suspect opinion is more mixed than you suggest, but I don’t particularly disagree with you. As I (wrongly) put it to Krugman some months back: “Was it worth giving up the Nobel Prize, to attack Bush?”

This is a great victory for engaged intellectuals everywhere. I’ve long wanted to see someone nominate Robert H. Frank for a Nobel. This decision shows that the Swedish Academy may well be open to the work of those unafraid to speak up on vital public affairs.
