I loved the book, but the commercials for the new show don't make it look that great. "Mad Men" just did an interesting episode which worked in the "abortion" episode of "The Defenders."

I don't watch much television, but "Indefensible" is an absolutley terrific book. I am assigning it in my seminar this semester along with John Kroger's equally first rate "Convictions."

The Defenders was usually on somewhat late for my bedtime in those years, so I didn't see it so often in its original days. (I seem to recall liking the theme song, though.) During college I saw some re-runs, and was impressed how they were filled with the idealism and attitudes of the Kennedy era. People who think TV today is "liberal" should see that show -- especially people who forgot, or never knew, that that label could be something to be proud of.
