Yep - we gotta choose because as most economists will tell you, economic security is a direct function of taxes and government spending...which explains the mad rush to places like Cuba and North Korea. If only Eastern europe knew how good they had had it.

How many people seriously believe they are undertaxed...and then do something about it - like voluntarily paying in more or purposely not claiming a legal deduction. Here in ultra-liberal/ultra-progressive Montgomery County Maryland, a recent poll found citizens very comfortable with the idea of increasing taxes...just not theirs.

I&#039;ve done plenty of tax returns for people across the political spectrum - not one has ever complained that their refund was too large.

(The anti-tax anti-spending dogma you refer to is also a reaction to how we view the efficiency of those already spending our money..and we ain&#039;t liking what we are seeing.)
