It's very sad to see that poorest and oldest continent in the world to be inhabited by Homo Sapiens (Africa, you dummy) with so many incredible monuments didn't receive a single position in the top seven. Or hadn't you even noticed? Yes, they had some nominations, at least the rest of the world was that generous. We of the more technologically advanced societies are a very selfish and inwardly focused group to find yet another way to disenfranchise those who can't afford to own the equipment to vote in this process. Shame on us!

Through multiple voting Brazilians have succeeded in getting the statue "Christ the Redeemer" on the list as a great wonder and at the same time stripping away any shred of legitimacy the list might have had.

I'm surprised the Pyramids didn't make the list. Maybe people didn't think they could vote for them.

Anyone could vote as many times as they could click... Therefore, the poll is worthless.

However, these 7 are pretty nice. But I don't see the marvel of the Brazilian statue---it's big; it's pretty, but it's no Taj Mahal.

But there are a lot of Brazilians with cell phones, and apparently they know how to vote 5+ dozen times per person.

Bogus votes do not a "Wonder" make.

Yet it's still possible to send in a nomination for the World's Seven Legal Wonders at IntLawGrrls: http://intlawgrrls.blogspot.com/search/label/Legal%20Wonders

Should anyone be interested in nominating Jalāl-ud-dīn Muhammad Akbar (1542-1605), ruler of the Mughal Empire from 1556-1605, I can send along information to help you pen your case in support of him.

(Incidentally, IntLawGrrls and Dorf on Law should be added to the Blogroll.)

Congratulations!

However, when the World's first ever ... 'travel guide' was compiled by the Athenians of the Classical Greek era for the Athenians, one may have noticed that their crowning jewel, The Acropolis of Athens was left out of the original "7 Wonders", only because it was in their hometown and they could see and visit the "Sacred Rock" every single day.

Which is why, on 07/07/07, as a N7W candidate, I expected The Acropolis in Athens, Greece to have been announced as one of the "New 7 Wonders"! So, how on Earth could The MARVELOUS Acropolis NOT have sufficient online votes to be considered a WONDER despite its popularity and symbolism? UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Now, let us all hope that, in an act of goodwill from the British Museum, the original and "seized" Parthenon Marbles will finally(!!!!) be returned to Greece. Then and only then, will the many centuries old history of The Acropolis of Athens, with its most impressive architectural masterpiece, the Parthenon, be completely ... RESTORED!!!!

Acropolis 4EVER!
