Introducing Guest Blogger Eric Goldman
posted by Daniel Solove
I’m delighted to introduce Eric Goldman, who is a law professor and Director of the High Tech Law Institute at Santa Clara University School of Law. Prior to joining the Santa Clara faculty this academic year, he taught at Marquette University Law School for four years. Before that, he worked as an Internet transactions attorney at Cooley Godward LLP in Palo Alto and as General Counsel of Epinions.com, a consumer-generated content website.
His teaching and research focuses on IP and Internet law. His work examines issues involving liability for Internet speech, search engines, direct marketing and spam, information privacy, and much more. Eric and I frequently disagree on privacy issues, but I always enjoy talking with Eric because he’s a provocative thinker who really knows his subject areas inside and out. Some of his recent papers include:
* Co-Blogging Law, 84 W ash. U. L. Rev. __ (forthcoming 2007)
* Deregulating Relevancy in Internet Trademark Law, 54 Emory L.J. 507 (2005)
* Search Engine Bias and the Demise of Search Engine Utopianism, 8 Yale J. L. & Tech. 188 (2006)
* A Coasean Analysis of Marketing, 2006 Wis. L. Rev. ___ (forthcoming 2006)
In addition to his guest blogging stint here, Eric blogs at his Technology & Marketing Law Blog, which offers terrific analysis of recent developments in information law. He also has a personal blog.
