Wow, what a terrible idea. When your students don’t do their reading, rather than make them wear sandwich boards saying “I didn’t do the reading”, you should ask them to speak to you after class and ask them what’s up. And if that doesn’t work, refer them to the school psychologist for help.

When students don’t do their reading, it’s not always (although often) because they’re lazy. What if your student(s) have an undiagnosed learning disability or mental disorder? Some people don’t get diagnosed with ADD until they’re 30. And there are very hardworking and determined people out there who want to do the reading but can’t focus due to a chemical imbalance. I don’t think people should be shamed for suffering from a chemical imbalance.

Unlike Kamipono D. Wenger (really), I don’t think this sort of thing will be very effective.
